Lonesome Travellers

Warren James is a fine purveyor of vintage and upbeat jazz, blues, skiffle, gospel, and roots music of the 1920s, 30s and 50s. He is now widely acknowledged as being one of the most entertaining banjo and guitar players on the jazz and roots music scene today.

With his band, The Lonesome Travellers, it has been known for him to venture into old-time New Orleans styles, string bands, and rag time music – the sounds that truly made America great 100 years ago.

Warren is a favourite artiste at jazz and blues venues, festivals, and prohibition themed events such as speak easy, great gatsby, and vintage nostalgic events.

“… Not many banjo players have taken the jazz and blues scene so warmly as Warren James has. He is an exceptionally talented banjo player and guitarist, a showman and a breath of vintage fresh air for the UK jazz and roots music scene… if 300 professional engagements per year, and being in demand to play with countless top bands doesn’t speaks for itself… then what will?

Jazz musicians who enjoy guesting as a Lonesome Traveller include top players such as Richard Bennett, Alex Clarke, Danny Blyth, Jim Swinnerton, Richard Leech, Richard Exall, Phil Shotton, and other known and respected names of the UK jazz scene.
